Pie Brief: Defining my deliverables
Also, at the moment I have quite a lot of quotes and I still have to choose a selection.
No more than 10? or is then still quite a lot
Here are all the pie-verbs so far.......
- All work and no pie makes Jack a dull boy
- When life gives you lemons, make a lemon meringue pie
- When in doubt, eat pies.
- All good things come to those who eat (bake) pies
- all you need is pie
- An apple (pie) a day keeps the doctor away
- behind every great man, there's a great pie.
- Every pie tells a story
- Home is where the pie is.
- Pie makes the world go round
- Make pies, not war
- No pain, no pie
- The best thing in life is free pie
- The more ( pies) the merrier
- third pie lucky
- 2 pies are better than 1
- what a pie
- have a wonderful pie
Linking this in with the recipes, I dont know how many categories I can put the pies in.,....
- Picnic Pies ( Pork pies, game pie, etc)
- Meat pies
- Vegetarian pies
- sweet pies
- fish pies
- pie with a twist
- tarts/ flans
- festive pies
8 different categories for pies.
8 different posters
Now I need to choose 8 pie verbs
- All work and no pie makes Jack a dull boy
- When in doubt, eat pies.
- have a wonderful pie
- All good things come to those who eat pies
- When life gives you lemons, make a lemon meringue pie
- Every pie tells a story
- Home is where the pie is
- Make pies, not war
'
and if I have time ...could always do more
add more of these pie verbs to my recipes etc
Pie Brief: putting my pies into context
I've changed my plans from just making posters to making some kind of poster recipes- I'm still going to print x number of posters that will potentially be displayed in a restaurant, bakery , etc but they will also befold outs of pie recipes. or part of a booklet or something
I thought about putting the recipes on the poster as part of it but I think that will ruin the aesthetics of the current design. unless I completely change the current design and make the recipe a part of the design. However, I'm not going to do that, firstly, I only want to add in the recipes in order to put my design into context, there is no point making new designs to try and fit the recipes in.
even just adding in a small print in the corner of the print will still mean having more type on there, even as small and simple as possible , it would still massively distract the eye from the poster.
I really like how simple the posters look at the moment but still have some really interesting and detailed type and drawing on it.
So I think that I will still make the set of posters,
then use the same design in a set of small booklets of reicpes
or turn the posters into a fold out of different recipes.
What I;m still deciding on is whether to have different types of recipe for each quote
eg.one poster could be a meat pie, pot pie, picnic pies etc
or just have one really unusual recipe on there?

Chosen Brief
After my tutorial with Amber, well after explaining my reasons for each brief to amber, I've decided which brief I want to do.
While the other briefs look fun, especially the channel four and the ministry of sound ones look like they would be quite fun briefs to do. I don't feel like there's really much substance to them. I don't even like the ministry of sound. and for the channel four one, I like the idea of branding the new channel but it wouldn't make sense for me not to do something screen based for it and I REALLY don't want to do that.
Also, with the peace day one, I feel like it fits better into my design practice purely because of the nature of this brief. I' am trying to create work that is sustainable and more ethically driven. I don't want to create work that has to completely ethical or only promotes social issues but I would still like that to fit under the umbrella of my design values.
